Our Work

Working in with a development next door, this tight access job resulted in creating a beautiful, clean outdoor space for our clients. With the sand-based block of land on a slope, our clients faced issues with rotted fencing and retaining walls, sand movement during weather events and the inability to utilise the space. We recommended the use of a rendered, concrete block retaining wall due to its durability, undeniable retention strength as well as its long-term versatility; allowing cladding as well as roofing options later on if an alteration is desired. With suitable drainage and waterproofing behind the retaining wall as well as strip drains around the patio connected to the site’s existing stormwater, water from maintenance and weather will always be able to fall away from the dwelling and off the site.

The back patio wrapped around to meet with our recently installed concrete path with brick garden bed, which led down the slope to meet with the Merbau deck we constructed out the front of the dwelling. All of it fenced in with new Colorbond fencing, transitioning to pine palings near the palms by the deck. We transitioned to timber fencing as our Client wanted us to customise some reinforcement on the fence to minimise the lean from the palms over the fence as it provided much needed privacy from the soon-to-be 4 storey development next door and any overhang would be cut down to make space for the building. A keen eye might notice some straps currently pulling the palms towards the deck, which is a great secondary use of our robust hardwood framing, built to last.

The deck featured a complete hardwood frame throughout with the top edge painted, end grains and frame junctions oiled, a polycarbonate roof with flashings, gutters and downpipes to shed water away from the site, customised to suit the existing eave, frosted glass balustrade to allow transfer of light while providing privacy, as well as access panels underneath, integrated within the screening for a sleek finish.

This shed fit-out in Pomona followed a tight budget without compromising on results. Following our client’s love of the colour black and wood products, we applied concepts from past architectural work to make this home gym/brewery come to life. With our budget friendly choice of CD grade plywood, the black shadow lines helped tick the box of room for product expansion and contraction, as well as giving the walls a hint of black to match the rest of the interior. We included custom made timber reveals and architraves to complete the space.

With black electrical outlets throughout, adjustable lighting to set the mood, wall mount TV, raw wooden slab bench and a blacked out shed frame to maintain a slight industrial look, we’d be hard pressed to find a better space to hang out, work out and enjoy a beer!

Constructed with Trex Composite Decking, we were wrapped with the outcome of this deck. With our client seeking an easier access point from their laundry door to their clothes line, as well as easier access from the front over a stormwater grate, while expressing concerns of altering the existing, functional slope of the ground, we drew the conclusion of situating the deck where it is now. With a step up against the fence to accomodate a high spot in the terrain, it allowed our client a neat platform to place their outdoor potted plants. Integrating our steps to suit the terrain as well as the stormwater grate left us with an end result of a easy going path down the side of the house, while also leaving access to a sewer main situated between the two decks.

With its guaranteed longevity and lack of maintenance requirements, the Trex decking was an excellent choice for these clients

Another Trex deck, this neat platform was short, sharp and sweet! Providing our client with a low maintenance deck to better utilise an otherwise wasted space. A great spot for them to pop their wet laundry racks, soak up some sun and just to hang out and relax.

With the old plasterboard ceiling on the brink of collapse, we replaced it with plywood, featuring 10mm shadow lines between sheets. Not only was the space now safe to use, it had a revamped, warmer feel to it from the plywood. Pre-oiling the sheets first with a natural-look finish meant once installed, there was no additional finish work required.
